Bhutan's princess inaugurates Dharma Dhamma symposium

Princess of Bhutan Ashi Sonam Denchan Wangchuk today inaugurated the second Dharma Dhamma international symposium here.
"Similar values and philosophy of life of India and Bhutan cement emotional bonds between the two countries," the princess said while inaugurating the event.
She said she has come here as India's friend carrying with her Bhutan King's concept of Gross National Happiness.
"The norms of eternal satisfaction and development should be education, health and other resources available to common people," she said.
The inaugural session was presided over by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
In his presidential address, Chouhan said that all human beings wish and aspire for long and happy life, which has given birth to a number of philosophies and ways of worship have come into existence.
"Happiness is different for different people. Some people find happiness in wealth and materialistic life. Lord Buddha's ideals of mercy, compassion, love, humanism and Ashtang philosophy can pave way for happy life in world burning in fire of materialism.

Senior Sri Lankan Minister Dr Sarath Amunugama, Chancellor of Sanchi Buddhist and Indic Studies University Ven Samdhong Rimpoche and Sri Lankan Buddhist scholar Vengala Upatista Nayak also spoke on the occasion.
