Today's EC meeting, convened by Jajodia, was boycotted by 16 of the 20 EC members, who said the BI President was not authorised to call such a gathering as it was the prerogative of Secretary General, Jay Kowli.
"The meeting has been adjourned due to lack of quorum and a fresh notice would be intimated to the EC members soon," BI spokesperson Neetal Narang told PTI.
"We have made ourselves pretty clear by boycotting this meeting. Now, there will be a 'No Confidence Motion' against him in the May 3 meeting and he is set to go. It would have been better had he resigned," West Bengal representative Asit Banerjee, part of the rebel group, told PTI.
BI, which has been fighting to get recognition from the Indian Olympic Association, took charge in September last year after conducting elections monitored by the International Boxing Association. But it has been struggling to run the show smoothly after the Indian Olympic Association refused to grant recognition to it.
"People who are opposing the current set up seem to be doing so because of their own vested interests. We will try to understand what exactly is their complaint with the President but what do you do when somebody wants to bring the system down just for the heck of it," the official added.
