In its bid to enter into the Guinness Book of World Records, a city school is creating the largest Origami Mosaic, as part of Swach Bharath Abhiyan, on October 31.
Students of Anan Kids Academy, an International CBSE School, will use 60,000 Origami Lotuses to form the mosaic, measuring 10,000 square feet.
The initiative was inspired by true patriotism and also to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation, who aimed at realizing the thought that "cleanliness is next to Godliness", an Academy release said today.
The mosaic will turn out to be a picture of Mahatma Gandhi with the spinning wheel symbolizing the city of Coimbatore, which is other wise called "Cotton City", it said.
It was decided on the Origami Lotus, as it is the national flower and a powerful spiritual symbol, the release said.
The existing record measured 5,511 sq.Ft, created by Myrto Dimitrou and Municipality of Athens, Cultural, Sports and youth Organisation, Greece at Mets Stadium in Athens on March 18 last. The display included 52,000 Origami water lilies, it said.
