Bids invited for construction of silos in Punjab

The state-owned Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (PSWC) today said it has invited bids for selection of developer-cum-operator for the construction of food grain silos in different parts of the state.
The silos with proposed capacity of 3.75 lakh MT for storing food grains will be set up at nine locations through Private Public Partnership (PPP) on design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis.
Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson said that silos are to be constructed at Ajnala (Amritsar) with a capacity of 50,000 MT, Kartarpur (Jalandhar) with a capacity of 25,000 MT, Banga with a capacity of 50,000 MT, Ajitwal (Moga) with a capacity of 50,000 MT, Phagwara (Kapurthala) with a capacity of 25,000 MT, Balachaur (Nawanshehar) with a capacity of 25,000 MT, Rupnagar (Rupnagar) with a capacity of 50,000 MT, Dharamkot (Moga) with a capacity of 50,000 MT, and Makhu (Ferozepur) with a capacity of 50,000 MT.
The official said these site complexes would be targeted to make storage capacity available for wheat during Rabi marketing season and expected to be completed by March, 2016.
