Online auction-based marketplace Bidsvilla has partnered with the London-based Conferro Heritae to auction magazine and movie memorabilia worth over Rs 400 crore from October 13.
Aimed at art aficionados, the auctioning will be done in three categories on October 13-20. There will also be previews in Mumbai, Delhi and Ludhiana on October 3-10.
"This collaboration will further strengthen Bidsvilla's efforts to bring art to the discerning Indian collectors. We aim to become a premium auction house in India bringing all kinds of collectibles to the Indian market," Bidsvilla co-founder Girijesh Jha said.
The planned online auctions are first of its kind and will bring some of the rare collectibles and items from across the world and India, he added.
The USD 250-million Indian art industry contributes about 0.4 per cent of the total global art market, which is worth about USD 63 billion.
With buyers and sellers getting more comfortable with online auctioning of art, this market is set to grow exponentially, he said.
