"I would like to produce a film on India. I need to get a story which I can easily identify with," Bier told media persons at IFFI 2012 in Goa.
Bier is being honoured with a special retrospective at the festival.
"As a non-Indian director, it has to be the right story. I have no doubt that I will get it. I am just waiting for it. One of the mistakes which you may make is to enter into the area which you have no idea about," she said, responding to a question on whether she would like to work on India-centric films like 'Life of Pi'.
Bier won an Academy award for her film 'In a Better World' (2010) in the best foreign film category.
She said that there are a number of stories that she wouldn't know how to tell. The director will be releasing her forthcoming Danish movie in India, which is a romantic comedy.
"It is a romantic comedy that deals with the theme of cancer," she said.
