Big win for Manipur in Jr women national C'ship

Riding on Sarita Devi's nine goals, Manipur women thrashed Tripura 24-0 in a Pool A match of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B) in Mysore today.
From the very first minute of the match, Manipur women started to dominate, even as Tripura's defence was not in a position to control the attack of the opponents.
Gitrani Devi opened the account in the second minute of the game and it was followed by the two penalty corner conversions by Sarita.
Sonia Devi then hit a field goal in the 9th minute. In 12th and 17th minute, Sarita scored back-to-back goals.
Bidyarani Devi (20th) and captain Geetharani Devi (22nd), netted the ball to add to the tally. This was followed by a superb goal in the very same minute by Bidya.
At half time Manipur were 13-0.

In the second half, the story was no different as Manipur continued their goal scoring.
Besides Sarita, Rojita Devi scored four goals in matter of eight minutes (39th, 41st, 45th & 47th min).
The convincing win gave Manipur three points.
In another Pool A match, Uttarakhand got the better of Vidarbha Hockey Association 7-0.
Uttarakhand took just four minutes to convert the first chance they got and a goal was scored by Pooja Bhatt.
The team continued putting pressure on the players of Vidarbha Hockey Association and before the end of first half they has successfully scored four goals.
In the second half, the team came back stronger. And even though Vidarbha Hockey Association warded the attack well, they failed to stop Uttarakhand.
Pooja Bhatt, Anita Maletha and Karishma Nayak scored two goals each to steer their team to a convincing win.
