With the rollout of 4G, falling data tariffs and increasing broad brand penetration, Anil Ambani-led Reliance Entertainment is sharpening its focus on its on-demand movie platform BigFlix in the country.
"For the last few years we focused on the international markets where the bandwidth, the networks and the devices were lot more prevalent. But now, with 4G and the growth of smartphones happening, we believe this is the right time to focus in the (Indian) market," Reliance Entertainment Digital Chief Executive Officer Amit Khanduja told PTI here.
BigFlix, a subscription-led video on demand platform was launched in 2008, and claims to have 3.9 million registered users globally.
The digital service will offer over 2,000 movies in high-definition in nine languages across geographies priced at Rs 50 per month in the country and USD 1.99 globally.
India is a big market for the company followed by US, Canada, UK, Middle East, Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.
"We see the digital consumption pattern increasing here. We are very bullish about the Indian market. India is a big market and will continue to be an important market for us," Khanduja said.
