The Bihar Assembly was today adjourned till 2 pm amid vociferous demands by the opposition RJD for removal of Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh, who has been summoned by a CBI court in Ranchi in connection with a fodder scam case.
As soon as the House assembled, RJD MLAs Bhola Yadav and Shakti Singh Yadav rose and demanded immediate dismissal of Singh, who is among the seven persons directed by the CBI court yesterday to appear in person on March 28.
Singh has been summoned in connection with alleged fraudulent withdrawal of money from the treasury in Dumka district where the Bihar chief secretary was posted as deputy commissioner during the period.
As Speaker Vijay Kumar Choudhary requested the RJD MLAs to take their seats, allow the Question Hour to proceed and raise the issue at an appropriate time, other legislators of the party as also those of the Congress and the CPI(ML) were on their feet raising slogans against the top official.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shravan Kumar made several attempts to pacify the members with the request to allow the proceedings to continue as the opposition MLAs raised slogans against Singh and questioned the decision of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to grant three-month extension to the chief secretary who had superannuated in February.
As the din continued for nearly half an hour, the Speaker adjourned the House till 1400 hours.
