Block Development Officers across Bihar today went on a strike in protest against assault on an official in Siwan district on Monday.
The BDOs, however, decided to withdraw their stir late this evening following an assurance from Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar that their grievances will be looked into and properly addressed.
"A delegation of the association met the minister who gave us the assurance that the guilty will be brought to book at the earliest and the safety of BDOs will be ensured. Hence we have decided to call off the strike and resume duties from tomorrow", the Association's president Prashant Kumar told PTI over phone.
The call for strike was given yesterday by the Bihar Rural Development Service Association in protest against the assault on Badaharia BDO Rajiv Kumar Sinha on March 12, when he was assaulted by a group of people during a meeting.
The injured BDO is undergoing treatment at a hospital here and the Association demanded immediate arrest of those who had beaten him up, besides providing adequate security to BDOs across the state, Kumar said.
