Bihar compensation, free funeral for Assam bus victims

Bihar government announced today compensation of Rs 2 lakh each and state funeral at home for the four from the state who were killed by outlawed NDFB militants in Assam.
Five persons, including four from Bihar, were killed in the firing by the outfit at Kokrajhar in lower Assam last night.
Bihar Principal Secretary, Home, Amir Subhani told reporters that on the instruction of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar the state government will pay Rs 2 lakh each to families of the victims. Out of this Rs 1 lakh will be from CM fund and the rest from the fund earmarked for migrant Bihar labourers.
Kumar also gave direction to district authorities to arrange funeral for them at the state's cost.
Subhani said on the initiative of the Bihar government, the Assam government too announced Rs 6 lakh compensation to them - Rs 3 lakh from its fund and an equal amount from central fund.
As soon as Nitish Kumar came to know about the killing of the four persons, he directed Subhani and police officials to get in touch with Assam officials.

"Accordingly I spoke to the home secretary of Assam, Gyanendra Tripathy and requested him to send bodies of the dead men to their homes," he said.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Special branch, Sunil Kumar talked to police officials in Assam while superintendents of police of Saran and Siwan, from where the four hailed, had a telephonic conversation with their counterparts in Kokrajhar, he said.
Three of the dead are from Saran district while fourth is from neighbouring Siwan, he said.
Subhani said the CM also directed Bihar police and Rail police to ensure that no trouble takes place in trains going to Assam from Bihar.
