A police officer was today caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Bihar's Nalanda district, a release issued by the Vigilance Department said here.
Madan Yadav, a sub-inspector of Ekangar Sarai police station in Nalanda district, had sought Rs 20,000 from a local to help him in a case, it said.
Finding no help from police, Dilip Kumar, a resident of Wajitpur village in Ekangar Sarai police station area of the district, approached the vigilance bureau.
The bureau, after verifying his complaint, laid a trap to nab Yadav.
A flying squad team was constituted under Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zamiruddin, who caught Madan Yadav red-handed while accepting the first installment of Rs 10,000 from Kumar at his rented accommodation at Sarai Bazar area, the release said.
The sub-inspector would be produced before a special vigilance court at Patna after preliminary interrogation, it added.
