Bihar Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav's maternal grandson has been kidnapped from Pipra block area of Supaul district of the state, police said.
The incident happened on July 1 but it came to light today as the police had kept it under wraps to trace the kidnappers.
Confirming the incident, Supaul SP Sudhir Kumar Porika said Yadav's maternal grandson Manish (11) was kidnapped while he was returning to his school after summer vacation. He is a student of class 7.
"He is a primary school student and stays at a hostel connected with the school. Our reports say he was kidnapped while on his way to the hostel from his home," Porika said.
"There has been no ransom demand so far. We will not be able to share anything more at this stage. The police is making maximum efforts to locate the boy," he said.
An FIR has been lodged and raids are being conducted all over the district. Supaul police is also coordinating with the police in other districts.
Meanwhile, Yadav said, "My maternal grandson had been admitted to a newly opened convent at Parsa in Supaul and he was going there from his home at Belaukhra village under Pipra block in the district."
"The only thing that is worrying me is that there has been no ransom demand till now. I hope the police traces him as quickly as possible," he said.
