Bihar flood situation further improves

The flood situation in Bihar today continued to show further sign of improvement with water receding in several places and people continued to return to their homes.
Due to easing of flood condition, only 2887 people ramained in only eight relief camps in 19 districts, a state disaster management department statement said.
Till yesterday 11,583 people were in 34 relief camps at different places.
The toll in the devastation remained at 514.
The department said 1,34,056 beneficiaries received flood assistance of Rs 6000 in their bank accounts from the Bihar government during the day to meet their immediate household needs.
So far, 8,59,573 beneficiaries have got the amount of assistance totalling Rs 515.92 crore, the statement said.

A total of 35,882 people were served food at 58 community kitchens, it said.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself donated Rs 1.34 lakh as contribution for flood relief works.
Industries Minister Jai Kumar Singh handed over a cheque of Rs 1.10 lakh in the Chief Minister Relief work.
Donations kept pouring in the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF) for flood victims from others too.
As per the met department bulletin Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnea are likely to witness generally cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thundershower tomorrow.
