Bihar gets light to moderate rain; Met forecasts light rain

Light to moderate rainfall occurred at most places in Bihar except south west and south central parts of the state where light rain occurred at a few places, Meteorological Department said.
Heavy rainfall occurred at one or two places in Bihar except south west parts of the state, it said while forecasting a generally cloudy sky with light rain in four major cities of the state.
Among the four major cities, Purnea received 0.2 mm of rainfall while Patna, Gaya and Bhagalpur did not not receive rainfall from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm today, MeT office bulletin said.
While Purnea registered highest amount of rainfall of 59.9 mm and Bhagalpur received 26.7 mm in past 24 hours (from yesterday's 8:30 am to today's 8:30 am), it said adding that Gaya received a rainfall of 3.0 mm while Patna received 0.4 mm rain.
Rains, that has brought down the maximum temperature by few notches, made weather comfortable across the state besides increasing the percentage level of humidity.
Gaya recorded highest maximum temperature of the state at 31.0 degrees Celsius, followed by 30.6 degrees Celsius in Bhagalpur, 29.9 degrees Celsius in Purnea and 29.3 degrees Celsius in Patna, the MeT office said.

Humidity level was highest in Purnea which recorded 100 per cent in the morning. It was followed by Bhagalpur at 95 per cent, Patna at 92 per cent and Gaya at 86 per cent, the bulletin said.
The state weather office has forecast a generally cloudy sky with light rain for four major cities of Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnea in next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Central Water Commission statement said all the embankments were safe in Bihar and all the rivers - except three rivers of Baghmati, Kamlabalan and Kosi - were flowing below danger level.
