Bihar govt announces measures to overhaul medicare facilities

The Bihar government today announced new measures to overhaul health care facility in the state including hiring of private doctors for carrying cesarean operation of pregnant ladies in hospitals where regular doctors are not available.
The decision to enhance facilities in government hospitals was taken at a review meeting of the state Health department by Health minister Mangal Pandey.
The minister gave direction that food served to patients should be of good quality which even civil surgeon could eat. Regular cleanness of kitchen should be carried for preparation of hygienic food, an official statement said.
"Tender of less than Rs 90 a meal rate should not be accepted," the minister said.
The minister instructed that first referral units where a gynaecologist is available along with facility of blood storage unit sadar hospital should carry at least 10 cesarean operations a month and sub-divisional hospital should do at least 5 C-Section operation.
The first referral units where regular doctors are not available there private doctors should be hired for operation at the rate of Rs 10,000 per C-Section operation.

"On 9th date of every month under Prime Minister's Maternity Protection campaign, more and more pregnant ladies should be registered and given quality services," the Health minister added.
Pandey further directed that faulty fans in hospitals should be repaired by October 15 next and regular bulbs be replaced by LED bulbs.
Bedsheets of seven colours, one for every day in a week, should be changed every day in hospitals, he added.
