Bihar government will provide vocational training to one crore people in the next four years under its Skill Development Mission for better employment opportunities, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said today.
From fiscal year 2013-14 to 2017-18, as many as one crore people would benefit from the training provided by the state government, which would enable them to get employment and also make them financially strong, Kumar said at a meeting.
A committee will be set up, headed by a Chief Executive Officer and additional CEO, for achieving the targets of the mission, Principal Secretary (Labour) Subhash Sharma said.
The main role of the mission would be to identify gap between demand and supply of skills, he said in a statement.
The committee would design a curriculum, identify requirements of training, train teachers and coordinate with industrialists.
Sharma said that the state has only 600 training centres whereas the requirement is more than 3,000.
Chief Secretary Ashok Kumar Sinha, Development Commissioner Alok Kumar Sinha and other senior officials of different departments participated in the meeting.
