Bihar JD(U) reconstitutes new committee

Former Bihar Assembly Speaker Udai Narayan Chaudhary and former ministers Damodar Raut and Dulal Chand Goswami today made it to the restructured state JD(U) committee, while the former spokesman in the previous team, Ajay Alok, was conspicuous by his absence.
No senior party leader officially spoke about Alok's omission from the panel.
When contacted, Alok told PTI, "I am thankful to the party for giving me the opportunity to serve as a spokesman. I do not know about the absence of my name from the new panel. It may be due to giving opportunity to others."
The new Bihar JD(U) team which was announced today, a day after the declaration of the names of the party's national office-bearers, has 14 vice-presidents, 15 general secretaries and 23 organising secretaries.
Ranbir Nandan, MLC, has been retained as the treasurer of the state unit.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is also the JD(U) national president, figures as a member of the state executive, along with 53 others.

The party has named its national office-bearers, members of its national executive committee, members of the Legislative Assembly and Council as 'special invitees' to the state executive committee.
Former MP Nawal Kishore Rai has also been made a vice president, along with 13 others.
Nine spokesmen have been appointed. They are -- Sanjay Singh, Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, Niraj Kumar, Nawal Sharma, Bharti Mehta, Nikhil Mandal, Upendra Prasad, Arvind Nishad and Sunil Kumar.
State president Basistha Narayan Singh was also appointed as the chairman of the party's various cells.
