No senior party leader officially spoke about Alok's omission from the panel.
When contacted, Alok told PTI, "I am thankful to the party for giving me the opportunity to serve as a spokesman. I do not know about the absence of my name from the new panel. It may be due to giving opportunity to others."
The new Bihar JD(U) team which was announced today, a day after the declaration of the names of the party's national office-bearers, has 14 vice-presidents, 15 general secretaries and 23 organising secretaries.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is also the JD(U) national president, figures as a member of the state executive, along with 53 others.

Former MP Nawal Kishore Rai has also been made a vice president, along with 13 others.
Nine spokesmen have been appointed. They are -- Sanjay Singh, Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, Niraj Kumar, Nawal Sharma, Bharti Mehta, Nikhil Mandal, Upendra Prasad, Arvind Nishad and Sunil Kumar.
