The Bihar Legislative Council was today adjourned till tomorrow amid ruckus by opposition BJP members over the murder of a police officer in Saran district.
As soon as the council sat at noon to take up business listed for the day, the first-term BJP MLC Sanjay Prakash alias Sanjay Mayukh put up an adjournment motion demanding special debate on deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar.
The Chairperson Awadesh Narayan Singh, however, summarily rejected the BJP member's demand for special debate on the law and order situation prompting other BJP MLCs to troop into the Well of the House and raise anti-government slogans.
The angry BJP members also displayed placards to highlight deterioration in the law and order situation in the wake of the murder of the Isuapur police station's Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjay Kumar Tiwari yesterday.
Some other BJP MLCs, including the party's state unit President Mangal Pandey were seen standing up.
Amid the din, the Chairperson urged the BJP members to resume their seats and allow the House to take up business of the day, but all his efforts proved futile prompting him to adjourn the House till 1 PM.
Once the house re-convened the BJP members led by the Leader of Opposition in the legislative council Sushil Kumar Modi persisted with their demand for special debate on law and order situation and once again trooped in the well of the House raising anti-government slogans following which the Chairperson adjourned the House till noon tomorrow.
