A release by Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Shyam Rajak said he accepted the plea of oil companies to lift the ban on 5 kg small LPG cylinder taking into consideration the interest of small families and students.
The minister, who held a meeting with officials of leading companies like Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum, told them to advertise asking the people to take connection of 5 kg cylinders from the companies' authorised outlets.
Rajak drew the attention of oil companies towards complaints of consumers that they were not getting LJP cylinder 20 days after booking and asked them to ensure punctuality in the delivery.
The minister also asked the companies to keep cylinder godowns away from densely populated localities.
The oil companies' officials told the minister that action was taken for opening bottling plants in some districts, the release said.
