Bihar minister faces villagers ire, takes shelter in college

Bihar minister Baidyanath Sahni today faced protests from villagers when he went to lay the foundation stone of a petrol pump in his native district and had to be escorted safely by police.
Sahni, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fishery in Jitan Ram Manjhi cabinet, had to take shelter in a college during the protests by villagers who were against opening of a petrol pump on the land of a college in the village under Morba block.
The minister alleged hands of BJP and anti-socials behind the episode.
"Some BJP workers and anti-socials indulged in staging violent protest against me when I had gone to lay foundation stone of a petrol pump in Nikashpur village," the minister told PTI.
The protesters, armed with lathis and sticks, also burnt a few tractors parked in the college campus.
The minister who took shelter in the college to escape the ire of the villagers was safely escorted by police.
"Police escorted the minister safely from the venue to his home," Superintendent of Police Babu Ram told PTI.
