Bihar minister promises increase in fish production

The state government today vowed to increase fish production in Bihar to meet the domestic demand and reduce supply of fisheries products from Andhra Pradesh altogether by December 2015.
"We will increase fish production by ten times to meet our domestic demand and also to put a stop to supply of fisheries products from Andhra Pradesh by December 2015," state Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Baidnath Sahni said in the legislative Assembly while replying to a debate on his department's demand for Rs 531.12 crore to meet the expenditures in 2014-15.
He also threw light on various schemes for promotion of alternative source of livelihood comprising cattle rearing, fish farming, dairy business and poultry in the state.
The Animal Husbandry and Fisheries department's demand for expenditure was passed in the House by a voice vote amid a walk out by the BJP members.
