Apparent ragging by some senior students at prestigious Scindia School here pushed Adarsh Singh, son of a Bihar politician, to allegedly attempt suicide as the management "failed" to act despite having knowledge of bullying on campus, according to a panel probing the incident.
Adarsh (14), son of Bihar Cooperative Minister Jaikumar Singh, was found lying near his hostel room under suspicious condition with a bed sheet wrapped around his neck on August 20.
"A five-member committee constituted under the sub-divisional magistrate Shrutismita Saxena in the wake of the incident has found that a few students of class XII allegedly ragged Adarsh (and) because of which he took this step," Gwalior Collector P Narhari told reporters.
Citing the panel's report, the Collector said school's warden and house-master must be in know of the ragging as Adarsh had complained to the management about the harassment which was going on for ten days before he allegedly tried to kill himself.
"If the hostel's house-master or warden are not aware about it then certainly it leads to the conclusion that there is a gross mismanagement and negligence on the part of the management," Narhari said.
As per the report, there is a ban in the school on using mobile phone but despite that Adarsh had uploaded his photos on Facebook around ten days back.
"When the senior students came to know about it they also wanted to upload their photos on the social networking site and started harassing Adarsh," the Collector said.

He said a letter was written to the school management to inform about the steps it has taken in the light of Supreme Court directives on ragging.
When asked about the future course of action, Narhari said, "Action will be taken against those responsible for the incident. A letter will be sent to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), along with the copy of the report," he added.
Police suspect that Adarsh tried to kill himself due to harassment by three senior boys, who belong to influential families, and had already recorded their statements.
Adarsh was already shifted to New Delhi's Apollo Hospital after his condition deteriorated at a private hospital here where he was initially admitted.
