Biker again assaults cop in city

In another incident the city witnessed a rogue biker assaulting a traffic home guard in the central part today, police said.
Two persons -- Ronit Dutta (23) and Mohammed Juner (22) were arrested for assaulting traffic home guard Pradip Kumar Banerjee of Jorabagan Traffic Guard when the latter stopped their bike for over-speeding while crossing Girish Park junction.
The incident happened at around 2.30 PM when Banerjee stopped the two riding the bike on the Central avenue for allegedly violating speed-limit rules, they said.
The duo when stopped first started a quarrel over the matter followed by a fight and hit Banerjee in which the police personnel was injured, they said.

The duo was arrested later after locals intervened and Banerjee was taken to the Medical College after which he was discharged.
There had been similar cases of motor-cycle borne youths assaulting traffic cops when they were stopped for violating traffic laws in the city in past.
