The action comedy film, which also stars actress Kristen Stewart and actor Jesse Eisenberg began filming on April 14, reported Deadline.
The movie follows the story of Mike, played by Eisenberg, whose secret past upturns his small-town life with girlfriend Phoebe, played by Stewart.
'Project X' director Nima Nourizadeh is helming the project and the script is written by Max Landis.
'American Ultra' is slated to release next year.
