The bill named as "The Cigarettes and other Tobacco products (prohibition of advertisement and regulation of trade and commerce, production, supply and distribution)Amendment Act 2012 likely to be introduced in the winter session of Parliament aims at highlighting the ill-effects of tobacco on the health and reducing its consumption.
The Bill seeks amendment in the original Act 2003 to stipulate for plain packaging of cigarette and tobacco products in the country and increase the size of health warning and the accompanying graphic on cigarettes packets, Panda said in a press release.
