Bills passage signify reforms: Venkaiah Naidu

A strong message signifying reforms and revival of economy had been sent out by the passage of important bills covering insurance, coal, mines and minerals in Parliament, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said here today.
"With the passage of Insurance Bill, Mines and Minerals Bill and Coal Mines Bill, a strong message of reforms and revival of economy has been sent out," he told reporters here.
Yesterday, the Rajya Sabha adopted the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Bill 2015 and the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill.
Noting that the passage of Bills meant a "big push" for infrasturucte, he said the power sector will be highly benefitted.
"Also, states will be benefited and they will get more funds and the entire country will be benfitted and people's confidence in the system will come back because earlier it was all corruption," he said.
On auction of coal, he said "let the Congress party answer this straight question: why have they not auctioned it? Why did they allocate it on the basis of favouritism which led to charges of corruption? Now they have the audacity to criticise."

Stating that a majority of regional parties supported the Bills, he said Congress and Communists however did not.
"I welcome their [parties that supported] support and appreciate their stand."
The Mine and Minerals Bill and the Coal Bill were passed in the Rajya Sabha with the support of various regional parties such as AIADMK and TMC.
