"Sunar Boron Pakhi" will portray the life of late Barua-Pandey, who was an exponent of Goalpariya Lokogeet, in a cinematic way, says its director Bobby Sarma Baruah.
A Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi award winner, Barua-Pandey, who came from the Gauripur royal family in Dhubri district, is best known for her soul-stirring songs "Hastir kanya" and "O mur mahut bandhu re".
"The first schedule of shooting has ended. The second schedule will start next month. The film is expected to release by the middle of next year," Baruah told PTI.
The role of an elderly Barua-Pandey above the age of 60 will be played by Arati Barua, she says, adding veteran Assamese actor and FTII Society member Pranjal Saikia will play the role of Pratima's father Prakritish Chandra Barua.

This is Baruah's second movie. Her debut film "Adomya" is about the plight of people living with HIV in the northeast. It will be screened at the ongoing International Film Festival of India in Goa later this week.
