The deal will enable students of engineering and physical sciences to complete their first two years of study at Manipal and then progress directly to the university in UK.
The agreement will benefit students who have successfully completed the first two academic years in India in either Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic and Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
Upon successful completion of two further years abroad, the students will be awarded a degree by the University of Birmingham.
H Vinod Bhat, Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Manipal University, in a statement added: "The signing of the agreement marks the beginning of a teaching and research partnership between the University of Birmingham and Manipal University."
"We would be closely looking at the prospects of research collaborations in the areas of medicine, life sciences, architecture and engineering, using the articulation agreement for transfer of credits in the engineering programme as the first touch point.
