The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) today said it has raided Sunil Enterprises and another unknown firm in the national capital for manufacturing helmets without a valid licence.
"The units were manufacturing helmets for motor cycle riders under two brands, 'DEV' and 'ONETEN' without having valid licence, violating Section 11(1) of the BIS Act, 1986," BIS said in an official statement.
The raid was conducted at Sunil Enterprises and an unknown firm in the national capital on August 19, it said.
As per the BIS Act, the use of ISI mark without having a licence from BIS or its imitation is a punishable offence, with a fine up to 50,000 or imprisonment up to 1 year or both.
BIS is the national standards body under the aegis of the Consumer Affairs Affairs Ministry. Its main function is formulation, recognition and promotion of the Indian standards.
