The government on Monday announced that the mining operations at Bisra Stone Lime Company Ltd - a subsidiary of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) - will begin this month.
The decision to resume operations was taken during a meeting held on Monday under the chairmanship of Steel Minister Dharmendra Prasad.
Senior officials from the steel ministry, SAIL Chairman Anil Kumar Chaudhary, and RINL CMD P K Rath, among others attended the meeting.
"I was made aware that there due to some issue...the work here (at Bisra Stone Lime Company Ltd) came to the point of halt...Today officials of Steel Ministry, SAIL Chairman, RINL CMD had a meeting and it was decided that from July the work...will begin again. In the coming week, the production from the company will begin," Pradhan said.
Limestone mining company BSLC has been mining and marketing limestone and dolomite in Sundargarh district of Odisha since 1910.
The company had to cease operation due to cash crunch.
In the meeting, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) and RINL agreed to provide trade advance to BSLC for immediate resumption of its mining activities.
