Straddling between small and big screens, with only opting for quality, content-rich works for the telly, the Mishawr Rawhoshyo actor Biswajit Chakraborty says he is equally keyed up for Jaatiswar and Dusahobas.
"Dusahobas, which talks about the unmasked truths of life with a deftly sensitive point of view of a woman writer, is a challenging role I had never portrayed on telly so far," the critically acclaimed senior actor told PTI on the sets of the serial.
"This is a never-before type of role in my decades' old acting career. In the writer's hand the male character is not just like a card-board type in telly-soap, and this is one thing I find intensely cathartic," Biswajit told PTI about the multi-episode show.
"Most of the girls don't protest against the slur and atrocities they face at different places, which unfortunately had witnessed a spurt in recent times. But there are few who dare protest and raise the knuckles of society. I am proud to be part of such a fictional tale which talks about protest, he said about the role in Dusahobas, based on Taslima Nasreen's work.
Biswajit, whose portrayal as the conservative joint family elder in Dutta vs Dutta had won accolades, was also keen to gauge audience response in Srijit Mukherjee's much awaited 'Jaatishwar' based on Portugese-Bengali baladeer of 19th century 'Anthony Firengee' and the typical urban-comedy flick 'Biye Not Out' by Abhijit Guha-Sudeshna Roy in coming days.
"It is a contemporary story about people, characters who we have come in contact with in our lives somewhere or the other," Ashok Surana, producer of the telly on Akash Aath, said.
