Kakade's candidature has been supported by 10 independent MLAs, namely Prashant Bamb, Ravi Rana, Shirish Kotwal, Sitaram Ghandat, Baliram Siraskar, Suresh Jethliya, Omprakash alias Bachchu Kadu, Pradeep Jaiswal, Anil Bonde and Haridas Bhade.
As per his affidavit, Kakade (46), who is in construction and hotel business, is educated up to standard VII in 1982.
The elections are held to fill up the vacancies being created due to retirement of seven members of the Upper House on April 2.

Meanwhile, sources in BJP said the name of its candidate will be finalised in Central Parliamentary Board's meeting slated tomorrow in Delhi.
It is not known yet whether Shiv Sena will field two or one candidate since it can get only one elected.
The current strength of Shiv Sena in the Legislative Assembly stands at 45 whereas the quota for winning candidate is 36.
