"It is something unheard of that Union Secretaries, while accompanying their department ministers to attend the BJP's national executive meeting, will undertake a review of central schemes and funds being implemented in the state. It is like attempting to target the state government," BJD spokesman P K Deb said.
Stating that the BJD has no objection to the Union Secretaries reviewing central schemes any time other than the BJP's meeting days here, Deb said "It looks unfair that the review is done when a political party is holding its meeting in the state capital."
The BJP, however, said there was nothing wrong in reviewing the performance of the central schemes being implemented in the state.
"Since many ministers and their department secretaries are arriving in the state capital for the meeting, they will look into how effectively central government schemes are being implemented," party General Secretary Prithviraj Harichandan told mediapersons.
