Giri, arrested and sent to jail on August 25 on charge of forging caste (tribal) certificate to get elected to assembly from a scheduled tribe seat, was granted conditional bail by additional district judge Asanta Kumar Das.
The court directed her not to leave the court's jurisdiction without permission.
Giri was arrested after the district welfare officer lodged a complaint with the police against her in Mayurbhanj district. She was accused of forging her caste and obtaining a tribal certificate by fraudulent means.
Though she was a "Gopala" (milk man) by caste, Giri obtained a tribal certificate and represented Baisinga segment from 2004 to 2009 as a BJP MLA. Later she joined BJD and headed its Mayrubhanj district women wing.
She had been removed from the post of the district women wing president, said state BJD women wing president Pramila Malick.
Giri was found to have allegedly forged caste certificate following a probe by the revenue divisional commissioner (RDC), central division.
