The BJD will not support the observance of first anniversary of demonetisation on November 8 by both the Congress and the BJP, the party's spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP PK Deb told reporters here.
"It is very unfortunate that BJP will celebrate November 8, as 'anti-black money' day even as 55 people had died due to demonetisation," Deb said.
It may be mentioned here that the BJD headed by Naveen Patnaik was the first non-BJP political party in the country which had openely supported the NDA government's demonetisation scheme.
"The very purpose of supporting demonetisation has has failed," Deb said.
Though the BJP had claimed that demonetisation will end terrorism and bring back black money stashed abroad, nothing has happened, he said.
While the Congress has announced to observe November 8 as 'black day', the BJP has decided to observe the day as 'anti-black money' day.
