In a dig at AAP government in Delhi, BJP today criticised it for not issuing even a single ad to inform people about the sale of subsidised onioins despite having budgeted Rs 526 crore for advertisements.
In a statement, Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta noted that residents were unaware about the location of outlets and mobile shops where the Arvind Kejriwal government was selling onions at Rs 30 per kg against a market rate of Rs 80 per kg.
In price-sensitive Delhi market, retail onion prices have gone up to Rs 80 per kg depending on the quality of the crop.
In order to provide relief to the people, Delhi government began selling onions at Rs 30 per kg through 280 Fair Price Shops (FPS) and mobile vans.
"The public has not been informed by the government about the outlets where onion is being sold at Rs 30 per kg. People do not know the location of the outlets where onions are being sold at subsidised price," Gupta said.
"Can't it issue an advertisement with regard to the sale of onion in Delhi?" he asked.
He further said that the Delhi government has failed to control the price rise in Delhi.
"They (Delhi government) are not paying attention to the rise in the prices of fruits, vegetables and other necessary products, instead are involved in playing politics and fooling the people of Delhi," he said.
