BJP leader Vijay Jolly today accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of violating the Assembly Rules by wearing the Aam Aadmy Party (AAP) cap with the party's slogan printed on it.
According to the "Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business" of the Legislative Assembly, members cannot wear or display badges, flags, emblems or any exhibits in the House, Jolly said.
"Kejriwal attended the first session today wearing caps depicting and exhibiting his party's name on it. This is clearly violating the Delhi Legislative Assembly Rules and Procedures," the BJP leader said.
He, however, said that wearing caps without any writings or wearing saffron or black clothes were allowed in the House.
"The non observance of the House Rules by the pro-term Speaker Congress' Chaudhary Mateen Ahmad is surprising," Jolly said.
"It was a sad day since intelligence and literacy of the non-partisan position of the Speaker and Chief Minister have been compromised. This is objectionable and against all the rules governing the conduct of elected Delhi MLAs," he said.
