BJP activists here threatened to protest outside the Parliament to press for their demand to expedite work on the construction of a 1.4 kilometer long bridge under the East-West Corridor project.
BJP MLA from Kota, Om Birla, said the construction of the bridge is going at a snail's pace.
"Earlier, the deadline for the completion of hanging bridge was June 2011 but it was extended again and again. It was later extended to July 2014," said Birla.
The MLA said BJP activists will take the protest to the Parliament in New Delhi if work is not expedited and added that the delay was leading to traffic woes.
"Due to lack of bypass facilities, heavy vehicles plying on NH -12 and NH-76 pass through Kota city are causing frequent traffic jams and accidents," Birla said.
The underconstruction long cable-stayed bridge over Chambal River had collapsed in 2009 leading to the death of 48 workers.

The project supported by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is being constructed jointly by Hyundai Engineering of South Korea and Gammon India.
Akhil Saxena, technical director of NHAI, said that about 52 per cent of the bridge has been completed and the rest would be completed in next two and a half years.
Saxena also said there has been a delay in the bridge's construction because it took two years to remove the debris of collapsed bridge
Investigation of the accident also contributed to delay the construction work, he said.
