BJP-AJSU alliance four short of absolute majority

The BJP-AJSU alliance has secured 37 seats, just four short of an absolute majority in 81-member Jharkhand Assembly, election to which was held in five phases.
BJP alone has won 32 seats and is leading in five seats, while All Jharkhand Students Union won five.
Results of 70 seats have been declared so far.
JMM has won 18 seats and is leading in one while Congress bagged four seats and is leading in two.
JVMP has won seven and is leading in another. Jharkhand Party won, Marxist Coordination and CPI (ML-L) got one seat each.
As many as nine ministers in the Hemanta Soren government have bitten the dust.

Jharkhand Finance Minister Rajendra Prasad Singh (Congress) lost to his nearest rival BJP's Yogeshwar Mahato by 12,613 votes from Bermo constituency.

Water Resources Minister Annapurna Devi (RJD) lost to BJP's Neera Yadav by over 13,000 votes from Kodarma seat.
Building Construction Minister Haji Hussain Ansari (JMM) lost to BJP's Raj Paliwar by over 6,000 votes from Madhupur constituency.
Tourism Minister Suresh Paswan (RJD) lost to BJP's Narayan Das by over 45,000 votes from Deogarh (SC) seat.
BJP has contested 72 seats while its alliance partner AJSU 8 seats. Another alliance partner LJP contested one seat. In the 2009 Assembly elections, BJP had won 18 seats.
