Accusing the cement companies of creating artificial scarcity of the product in Andhra Pradesh, the BJP district unit today sought government action.
"The companies are creating artificial cement scarcity in the market and increasing the rates, which has adversely affected the common man," city president of BJP, P V Narayana Rao said here during a press conference.
Urging the government to immediately act against the erring cement companies, Rao warned of launching an agitation.
"BJP will take up an agitation if there is no action from the government and positive response from the cement manufactures," he said.
BJP legislator Vishnu Kumar Raju said it was "unfair" on the part of the cement companies to increase the prices by fifty per cent in a mattern of few days.
He also sought a CBI inquiry into the operations of the cement companies in the state.
