The saffron party held a rally through different parts of the metropolis to protest against the alleged attack on party leader Rupa Ganguly at Gopalnagar in the southern part of the city yesterday.
While Ganguly alleged that she had been attacked by Trinamool Congress workers, the ruling party claimed that it was the actress-turned-politician who had torn their party flag from a public meeting venue.
He alleged that the police was turning a blind eye to complaints against ruling party members in different cases of poll-related violence.
"In such a situation, I don't see much hope for free and fair elections," Supriyo claimed.
"The state of the law and order is quite evident in a state where a person like Rupa Ganguly can be attacked in broad daylight," BJP state president Rahul Sinha told newspersons at the end of the car rally.
