The bandh called by BJP in Bharatpur district in protest against notices issued by CBI to four office-bearers and a party MLA for interrogation in connection with 2011 Gopalgarh communal violence case evoked a mixed response today.
Shops and some markets remained closed while party workers staged demonstration and dharna at different locations on the day.
Party workers led by district vice president Bhanu Pratap staged a dharna at Laxman Mandir chowk, a party spokesperson said here.
State BJP leaders have alleged that the ruling Congress was using CBI to serve its political ends after the opposition party's members were included among the 47 persons who were served notices two days back by CBI.
They allege here yesterday that the CBI would arrest the party MLA from Nagar constituency in Bharatpur, Anita Singh, as soon as she reported to them.
Ten people from the Mev Muslim community were killed and a few others injured in clashes between the former and members of the Gujjar community over a land-related dispute in Bharatpur's district Gopalgarh on September 14, 2011.
