BJP today boycotted the all party meeting convened by Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker seeking cooperation of all parties in the smooth conduct of the budget session starting tomorrow.
Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey sought the support of leaders of all the political parties in the smooth conduct of the House as per parliamentary procedures and appealed to them to cooperate.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, on behalf of his party, assured full cooperation in proceedings of the House, stressing that the budget session is very important for the development of the state.
Justifying their boycott of the all party meet, BJP leader Satish Mahana said, "the present government is not addressing the problems concerning the people. So, there is no point in attending the meeting... We will vociferously raise the issues effecting the people in the House."
Leader of Opposition Swami Prasad Maurya of BSP said his party would raise all matters of public interest in the House in a forceful manner, and put the Akhilesh government into the dock for deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
"Akhilesh ought to have resigned on moral grounds," he said, adding that law and order, power woes, plight of farmers and issues of sugarcane growers would be raised by his party in the House.
Pradip Mathur of Congress said his party would be attacking the government on the issues like dismal law and order, crime against women and bad shape of roads among others.
