The Sundergarh district unit has called for a 7-hour shutdown from 6 am to 1 pm on Friday to protest against the throwing of eggs at Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram's vehicle by supporters of BJD and Congress yesterday and waiving of black flags at him in Kendrapara district.
Senior BJP leader Braja Sundar Bhuyan has filed an FIR at Aul police station accusing 22 persons in the incident.
"The bandh call is given as Oram hails from that district and also represents Sundergarh in the Lok Sabha," said BJP state president Basant Panda.
He condemned the egg throwing at Oram and said this type of incident is not acceptable in a democratic set up. "This shows lack of law and order situation in the state," Panda said adding that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is himself in charge of the home department.
