Alleging misappropriation of central funds meant for development in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP chief Amit Shah today promised that a probe will be carried out and the guilty punished if his party comes to power in the state.
"It is a fact that Centre has been pumping in huge sums of money for the development of this state.... More than any other state in the country. But still this state lacks in terms of development," he said while addressing an election rally in support of party candidate Neelam Langeh in Ramban.
He vowed that if BJP is voted to power in the state, the government will hold an inquiry against those embezzling the money meant for developmental activities in the state.
"Where has all the money gone? Did they take it along to London when he goes there to spend summer. If an enquiry is conducted into this I assure you that this would emerge as the biggest scam of the country. The day is not far when we will hold an inquiry into this," he said.
Attacking National Conference and Congress, he said, "When in power these parties have been saving each other's skin but we will conduct an inquiry."
He alleged that Congress led UPA government "was involved in scams worth Rs 12.5 lakh crore'.
"Sonia Gandhi wants to know about our performance of the past five months. We ask her what they have done in the past 60 years. They have to their credit scams like 2G, helicopter scam, Air India scam, Coal scam, Submarine scam, Aadarsh scam and what not," he said.
Targeting former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Shah said, "When 'Mauni baba' used to visit Japan, Australia or the US, nobody showed any warmth, but now when Narendra Modi is visiting, the heads of these countries are giving a red carpet welcome to him," he said.
