BJP today said it was committed to the interest, honour and self respect of life and property of North Eastern people living in rest of India and said a round-the-clock helpline is available for their welfare.
A day after a Manipuri youth was beaten up by locals in Bengaluru allegedly due to his inability to speak Kannada and the attack on two youth from Nagaland in Gurgaon's Sikandarpur by unidentified miscreants, Convener of BJP's North East India Sampark Cell Sunil Deodhar said he is in constant touch with the conveners of Karnataka and Haryana and is closely monitoring the situation.
"This incident has shamed the entire nation," Deodhar said, adding that following the incident Karnataka State Convener of BJP's North East India Sampark Cell, Sampath Kumar met Circle Police Inspector Krishnappa and the victim at Kothanur police station and urged to take immediate action against culprits.
In another incident last evening in Gurgaon, the cell has also taken up the issue and Cell's Delhi co-convener Shravan Jha, immediately contacted Gulam Muhammad, SHO of local police station expressing concern and insisted for action without any lapse of time against the guilty.
Deodhar also gave out a 24 hours helpline mobile number 9313292915.
