Criticising BJP for its "suicidal surrender and U-turn on its jingoistic rhetoric" on the release of hardline separatist leader Masarat Alam, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today said the party had compromised on all its policies for the sake of power.
"We accuse BJP for its suicidal surrender and U-turn on its jingoistic rhetoric. The state unit of BJP owes an explanation to the people of state for its criminal silence over the spate of announcements and measures announced by PDP in furtherance of its highly controversial agenda," JKNPP Chairman, Harsh Dev Singh told reporters here.
"BJP in its outlandish ambition to remain in power seems to have ignored the fact that Masarat Alam had waged a war against the nation, carried a huge reward on his head for pro-secessionist activities, was detained under PSA and other offences more than a dozen times and has further warned to carry forward the anti-India campaign immediately after his release," he added.
Asserting that Jammu and Kashmir can't be made a hostage to politicking by BJP-PDP alliance, Singh lambasted the saffron party for its "utterly meek and shameful response" in the face of aggressive posturing by its alliance partner for promotion of its avowed agenda in the state.
He said it was unfortunate that BJP has sought to downplay the release of Alam with several of its senior state leaders and Ministers making vague assertions of taking up the issue with PDP leadership.
