BJP, Cong in fresh war of words over Rahul's dynastic politics

The BJP and the Congress were today engaged in a fresh war of words over Rahul Gandhi's remarks on dynastic politics in India with the ruling party asserting that it believed in the "politics of performance."
The Congress on its part hit back at BJP chief Amit Shah for his comments against the Congress vice president and asked him to look within before pointing fingers at others.
Shah while criticising Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on dynastic politics said the Congress banked on the "politics of appeasement and dynasty."
In his inaugural address at the BJP national executive, Shah said President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reached their position due to their work, despite their humble origins.

"The Congress believes in the politics of appeasement and dynasty, whereas BJP follows politics of performance," Union minister Piyush Goyal quoted Shah as saying at the closed door event.
"Both the Congress and Gandhi disapprove of the politics of performance, but BJP will continue to work for the country on the basis of such politics," Shah said.

Reacting to Shah's remarks, Congress spokesperson Manish said, "Before pointing fingers at others, the BJP chief should first look within."
"We would like to ask those who talk about dynasty politics that if BJP does not believe in dyansties what are the sons of former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and chief ministers Vasundhara Raje and Raman Singh doing in the Lok Sabha," Tewari told reporters.

Congress communications incharge Randeep Surjewala said a "rattled" BJP president and his party should shed its "fear and obsession" with Rahul Gandhi and answer questions.
In an interaction with students at the University of California in Berkeley recently, Rahul Gandhi suggested that dynastic politics was a way of life in India. He said India is run by dynasties and cited the examples of Samajwadi Party, DMK and even Bollywood.
On Shah's charge of Congress pursuing appeasement politics, Tewari said the party believes in secularism and equality, and that is why during the 10 years of UPA government there was no social tension.
