"The credit for party's victory goes to the leadership of its national president Amit Shah, Prime Minister Narendra Modi besides the hard work put in by party activists and the hectic campaigning undertaken by Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and his colleague ministers," BJP state president and party MP from Jammu Jugal Kishore Sharma said here.
Sharma, along with the party's state vice-president and LAHDC elections incharge Sat Sharma, was given a rousing reception on reaching Jammu from Leh today.
"The people have rejected Congress and voted overwhelmingly in our favour as they have realized that it is only BJP, which is really committed for the welfare and development of their region," Sharma said adding that the party will now work towards mitigating the sufferings of the people and provide a people-friendly dispensation.
He also announced that the newly-elected councillors will soon meet to elect their leader, who will head the LAHDC.
